Buying and consuming less should be our ultimate goal if we care about reducing our impact on the planet. But the reality is that we live in a consumption driven society and that there are things we want and need to buy to go about living our best lives.Knowing that you do everything you can to reduce your ecological footprint, you obviously want the companies whose products and services to buy to do the same. But it has always been difficult to sort through the green washing and determine which companies have practices in line with yours. No longer. Climate Counts has filled the vacuum by offering information on the practices of hundreds of popular companies.
Climate Counts, a project funded by Stonyfield Farm, offers a fountain of information about many different companies on its website, a downloadable version of the entire report and a pocket-sized scorecard to carry with you for reference as you make spending decisions every single day.
The organization assesses 22 factors in determining each company's ranking on a 100 point scale. You can download a list of these factors and accompanying explanations at this link: Scorecard.
